Hi, I’m so happy you’re here! My name is Lauren Dewey Tarr and I am a freelance writer/editor-for-hire and the creator of this unabashed lifestyle blog. I’m also a mother, wife, sister, friend, trauma survivor, autoimmune fighter, and all-around wellness warrior. Basically, I’m a strong, emboldened, middle-aged woman with a lot to say.
Ten years ago, after climbing the corporate ladder, birthing two boys, starting a business, and surviving three unexpected surgeries, my husband and I decided to slow things down and move our family from suburban New York to sub-rural Pennsylvania. Surrounded by cornfields and horses (and the perfect trifecta of Whole Foods, Wegmans, and Target), I can honestly say that this is not where I expected to be, but it’s exactly where I was meant to be.
I’ve always been a writer. It’s how I express myself. I am the daughter of an English teacher and a girl with a Communication degree, so you could say writing is in my blood. My personal writing voice is sassy and colloquial, and my professional voice is adaptable to whatever a client needs. FUN FACTS: I am a verbivore and a bit of a grammar snob; I secretly edit social media posts with my invisible red pen, I cringe when holiday cards are signed by The Smith’s instead of The Smiths, I think To Kill a Mockingbird is the best book ever written, and I love a good pun.
As a health and fitness junkie, I am all about personal growth, wellness, and community. I love to sweat in the gym and create wholesome, new recipes in the kitchen. I think yoga pants and top knots are life, zucchini is the best vegetable ever, and I never leave home without under eye concealer, my cell phone, a reusable aluminum water bottle, and an elastic hair band around my wrist. I call myself a BAMFwi (bad ass mother f***er, with issues) and an “-ish” girl (for the suffix that means near or about) because some days I have my shit totally together, and some days … not so much
If you appreciate cheeky, snarky, candidness served with a touch of positivity and optimism, and you want to laugh, learn, and connect (and maybe even get inspired), then you’re in the right place. Pull up a chair and spend some time looking around as I dish openly about navigating family, relationships, health, and wellness during midlife.
Before I go, I’d be remiss if I didn’t add a shameless business plug … If you’re in the market for a freelance writer, ghostwriter, columnist, editor or proofreader, I’m your girl. Visit my business website at laurendeweytarr.com to fill out the contact form, or just drop me a line at lauren@laurendeweytarr.com with your deets and we’ll chat.
As always, thanks for reading!
