Are you wading through the weeds of midlife? Simultaneously managing teenage hormones and menopausal hot flashes? Jointly navigating aging parents and college admissions applications? Figuring out how to live life with reading glasses, a leaky bladder, and mysterious aches and pains? You, my friend, are not alone.
Welcome to MIDLIFE — where only the strong survive!
Like me, the blog formerly known as Roses and Armpits has grown up. I’ve traded in the diaper cream and pull-up pants for wrinkle cream and Poise pads, so I am ready to tackle what’s next. After nearly 10 years of hard work in the gym and on the therapist’s couch, I’ve overcome a plethora of challenges to transform my body, mind, and spirit. I’ve done the hard work and I’m ready to take charge of my life again. I’m ready to live out loud and unapologetically — with lots of moxie and plenty of muscle.
This new iteration of the blog, renamed Lauren in Charge: Diary of a Midlife Mom with Moxie and Muscle, is all about navigating this next phase of life boldly and confidently, with grace and wit. I’ll be dishing out unsolicited tips, tricks, and relatable stories about family, relationships, health, and even past traumas with the same sarcastic humor and New York candor that you’ve come to know and love. I may be older, wiser, stronger, and bolder, but I’m still just as sassy and sarcastic as before. (Read more about me here).
Be prepared for real talk about all things midlife — from raising teenagers and navigating adult friendships to surviving early menopause, living with an autoimmune disease, and parenting your parents. I hope to make you laugh, learn, and feel connected, supported, and dare I say, inspired. I may not have all the answers, but I do have experience and spunk … and a propensity for oversharing.
So if talking openly about teenage angst, aging parents, and peeing your pants when you sneeze is your jam, then pull up a chair and dive in now by reading the latest post or visiting one of the categories listed at the top. Lauren in Charge: Diary of a Midlife Mom with Moxie and Muscle is real, raw, witty, and wry … and hopefully helpful.

Thanks for being here, and happy reading!
