TikTok gets a bad rap sometimes, but it’s not all bad. I’ve learned teenage slang, found my favorite pair of leggings, and discovered the benefits of mouth taping. My latest obsession (other than the super catchy “Where’s my Sally tonight?” videos) is the Great Lock-In Challenge.
The idea behind this viral trend is to use the last three months of the year to get your shit together. To ‘lock in’ on your best self, break old patterns, grow, and prepare for the new year and next chapter of your life.

The concept isn’t new. In fact, last year the same challenge was branded the Winter Arc (a riff on the literary term character arc, which is the transformation a character undergoes during a story, often as a result of a challenge).
Before that, it was the 90-Day Challenge.
Different names, same concept.
Whatever you want to call it, I am always down for a good self-improvement or fitness challenge (within reason). Despite my boys mocking me for succumbing to a TikTok trend at my (old) age, I’m in.
I’m focused. I’m dialed in. I’m grinding …
Although possibly not every day. That seems excessive. And unrealistic. I mean, I’m 53 (and 2/3), and I get tired more easily now.
But my plan is to give it my all, even when my all is only 50%. Progress over perfection, right?
Who’s with me?
